The Volleyball Combats are Heating Up-“Creek vs Brook “and “Lake vs Springs”
Each week crucial games are being contested between the four teams around the Lake and this week the Clear Creek Lady Wildcats, 5-2-0 in District play, take on the Clear Brook Lady Wolverines, 6-1-0, at Clear Brook high School, 6:30 pm, Tuesday, October 6th.
The other CCISD matchup this week will take place on Friday, October 9th, at Clear Springs High School where the Lady Chargers, 2-5-0, will take on the “Undefeated in District play,” Clear Lake Lady Falcons, 7-0-0.
Last year’s District 24-5A Champions; Clear Creek, has two district losses, one last week, to Clear Lake. Clear Brook has only one District loss, also to Clear Lake. Clear Brook needs to win to stay one game ahead of Clear Creek and one game behind the undefeated Clear Lake Lady Falcons.
The Clear Springs Lady Chargers have a hard task ahead of them, taking on the powerful Clear Lake Lady Falcons. They will have home court advantage and they will need to play mistake free ball against this overwhelming Lady Falcon team, with multiple attacking hitters, like Kate Foley, Ashley Power, Lauren Horelka, Kiara Wright and Felissa Baker, and their excellent “setter” Logen Bourque. The Lady Chargers bring hitters like Tori Whitworth, Carley McCarra, Samone Boyd, and Bailie Jedlicka.
The Clear Brook Lady Wolverines are focused and battling Clear Creek should be the intense game of the week, featuring Lady Wolverine talented hitters like Alicia Dittrich, Caiti O’Connell, Anita Permenter, Darian Lockwood, and Crystal Young and the excellent Trysta Dionne. Clear Creek brings the heat with the fiery play of the dominating Madeline Gaffney, along with freshman Ashley Smith, Ellen Shoemaker, and Rachel Hobaugh.
“Will,” the Wolverine Mascot, might just have his claws out and ready to take on the Clear Creek Wildcat Mascot in a showdown that’s so important for both teams. If Creek could beat Brook they would move into a tie for second place in District 24-5A.
Pick your game to attend, the showdown at Brook vs Creek or the upset ready Springs taking on the powerful attack of Lake, or better yet attend both, Tuesday and Friday! This year is shaping up to be the tightest race in CCISD volleyball ever.
